Dover is the sixth most affordable town for buying a house n the UK.
It also is in the top 10 for cheapest towns per region.
Gross annual income in Dover is £63,690 and the average property price is £224,287.
This means it would take 3.52 years worth of average annual salary to afford a property there.
The area with the lowest average house price in that top is 10 Shildon in Durham with a figure of £59,468.
The research is by the property website Zoopla.
It says relocating to another region to get onto the property ladder may not be an option for everyone.
But this analysis highlights that simply moving to a nearby town may fit within budgets for prospective buyers.
Tom Parker, head of communications at Zoopla says: “With the stamp duty holiday extended once again, to June, and budgets remaining tight, prospective buyers may be wanting to save money by looking into purchasing a home in an affordable town.
“The easing of restrictions marks an opportunity for buyers to perhaps think more seriously about purchasing a new property.
" Visiting these locations is vital to understand the true potential of the affordable towns in the UK, and realise the important factor of getting more space for your money.”
