07:30, 15 May 2017

A man and woman were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a house in Dover.

Firefighters said they believe the fire started after a laptop battery caught fire while it was on charge.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the attic of the three-storey building shortly after 8.30pm yesterday - when fire crews arrived.

Two engines and support equipment - including breathing apparatus, hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera - were used by crews at Minnis Terrace near Crabble Avenue and Hillside Road.

All the occupants were accounted for but two people had to receive treatment from paramedics.

A woman in her 40s and a man in his 20s needed oxygen to treat them for breathing in smoke.

The fire was dealt with and crews stood down at 9.35pm.
