A migrant has been killed on a motorway near Calais, French media reports.
The regional newspaper La Voix Du Nord says that the man was struck by a car on the A16 around midnight last night.
The tragedy happened on the eastbound Durkirk carriageway, an area called Offerkerque, about 11 miles from the Port of Calais.
The newspaper reports that man was described as a migrant by the local authority Préfecture du Pas-de-Calais.
But his nationality is so far unconfirmed.
Local firefighters and police were called to the scene and traffic was delayed for three hours.
The newspaper reports that this was the only migrant who has died on a motorway this year in the Calais area.
But in recent years several have died in accidents while trying to break into lorries heading for Dover and the UK.
French authorities are being contacted for details.
