A PREGNANT woman was among those evacuated from their homes at Dover this morning when a fire broke out on the roof of a neighbouring building.

The blaze was at the historic Dolphin Passage, off Castle Street.

It is believed to have started while workmen were dismantling a fuel tank on the roof of the building.

A number of people were evacuated from their homes on one side of the building, and staff in a solicitor's office on the other side also left their desks while firefighters tackled the blaze.

The fire brigade said that no-one was injured in the incident.
