Motorists heading towards Dover are facing severe delays on the A2 as traffic queues build up.

Earlier there were eight miles of queuing traffic heading towards Dover on the A2 coastbound carriageway from the A260 Old Dover Road to Dover Docks, but the line of traffic is longer.

The queues tailback to the A260 turning for Aylesham and Womenswold, Barham because of the delays on the ferries between Dover and Calais.

The ferries have been delayed by up to 90 minutes because of the high winds at the Port of Dover.

However, now there are now nine-and-a-half mile tailbacks along the road.

As a result of the tailbacks and high winds, Operation Stack has now been implemented on the M20.

Elsewhere, at the Dartford Crossing high winds from Storm Gareth has closed two lanes on the QE2 Bridge.

The lanes are closed and there is queueing traffic due to the strong winds on the M25 clockwise carriageway from M25 J31 for Lakeside and Purfleet to M25 J1A for Swanscombe.

Lanes one and four are closed are closed for safety in case vehicles get blown into adjacent lanes.
