A 26-year-old mum will be sprinted her way to the finish line at the London Marathon yesterday.
Scarlet Isaacson, of The Freedown in St Margaret’s, made her first attempt at completing the run.
Scott Clark, her partner, and one-year-old daughter Anastasia supported, along with her two sisters who live in London.
She has already raised more than £1,000 and hopes to touch £3,000 by July.
Scarlet was selected to do it last year, but the event was too close to the birth of her daughter in February.
“I have always wanted to do it, but last year I had a new born baby so I deferred it to this year.”
The full-time mum has been putting her heart and soul into training for the big event and has already achieved 21 miles in three-and-a-half hours.
She has been dedicated since before Christmas, running in the wind, rain and more recently, the sun.
“I enjoy it,” she said.
“I think you get to a certain level of fitness and it becomes manageable.
“I don’t want to walk it. It was hard to start with but the more I train the easier it gets.”
Miss Isaacson has ran across the cliffs in St Margaret’s and she has also sprinted to Deal and Dover in her bid to complete the marathon in under five hours.
She will be raising money for a charity very close to her heart called the Pegasus Playscheme, who was made charity of the year at Dover Community Regatta in 2013.
It provides support and services for children with various disabilities by hosting a three-week summer scheme which offers children and teenagers the chance to get involved in activities.
With 65 spaces open, the organisation offers people the chance to go swimming, horse riding, as well as visits to the cinema and nearby zoos.
Scarlet’s brother-in-law Jamie Clark, who has Down’s Syndrome is on the committee for the charity, and her mother-in-law, Sue Clark, is the chairwoman.
Miss Isaacson said she has always had a sporty streak, winning trophies for cross-country when in school, which has spurred on her efforts.
She said: “I run along the cliffs and in the gym, I have been training pretty hard recently.
“I try not to stop for breaks, I try to push myself.”
When asked how she juggles training with parenthood, Scarlet said: “I find it easy because it gives me more energy doing these long runs.
“My family have been so supportive throughout the training.”
