MEMBERS of Dover Rowing Club have launched the first of their new project Oarsome boats.
The boat, a double scull supplied by the Amateur Rowing Association, was built by Browns of Durham.
It has a Kevlar hull with a wooden infrastructure and is the first boat of its kind to be used by the club.
The boat is designed to help young children take up rowing and will be used by local youngsters and club members.
The boat is being named after the late secretary of the club, Timber Wood, whose widow, Audrey, and their children attended the "christening" ceremony on Dover promenade.
Funding for the new boat came from Sport England, Henley Stewards Charitable Trust, SRB, Pfizer, George Hammond Shipping, Dover Harbour Board, Dover District Council, and Bradley's solicitors.
