Two police officers were allegedly attacked and hospital staff abused after a man was arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence.
Cops stopped a car in London Road, Dover, following a tip-off that it was being driven illegally.
An officer was reportedly assaulted when the person behind the wheel of the vehicle was being arrested.
A police spokesman said: "The suspect then became ill in custody and was taken to hospital where it is alleged he became abusive to staff."
It's also alleged he further assaulted an officer upon his return to custody and the incidents are said to have happened on March 31.
Kyle Toptalo, of Devonshire Road in Dover, has since been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, obstructing police and using threatening, abusive and insulting words with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence.
The 31-year-old was also charged with driving without a licence, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
He has been bailed to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on May 20.
