Emergency gasworks have closed a road which is set to stay shut for seven days.
Engineers from SGN are in Ackholt Road in Aylesham between Dover and Canterbury while gas escape works are carried out.
Work started on Monday and is set to last until Friday, February 9.
The closure starts from outside number 16, west of the bridge for Aylesham train station.
Drivers are instead advised to use an alternative route via Ackholt Road, Aylesham Road, Sandwich Road, Butter Street and Chapmans Hill.
A spokesperson from SGN said: “We’re carrying out essential emergency repairs to our gas network.
“This involves complex engineering work which makes it difficult to say when our work will be complete, but we’re working as hard as possible to reduce any disruption.”
