Drivers experienced severe delays this morning following the closure of the Roundhill Tunnel.
Traffic built up on the A20 coastbound following its closure between J13 on the M20 and the A260 near Folkestone.
The tunnel was closed to prevent queuing inside following the implementation of Dover TAP.
The traffic management system queues port-bound lorries in the left lane of the A20 after the Roundhill Tunnel to prevent Dover becoming congested when there are delays at the Port.
TAP has been used regularly over the last few weeks while P&O ships stopped operating from the Port of Dover.
This was after the ferry firm fired nearly 800 seafarers in a shock move, with no consultation or warning.
Although agency staff were hired to replace the workers, the Pride of Kent and Spirit of Britain - which run the Dover to Calais route - both initially failed safety checks.
Spirit of Britain has since passed a reinspection, and is now carrying both passengers and freight.
Pride of Kent remains under detention.
Operation Brock, on the M20 between Maidstone and Ashford, is also still in place.
Diversions were put in place for drivers heading to Folkestone and Dover this morning.
By 12.30pm, the tunnel had re-opened.
