Spate of thefts from vans in Dover, Canterbury, Thanet, and Folkestone and Hythe

A spate of thefts from vans in east Kent has prompted police to remind owners be vigilant to help keep their vehicles safe.
Kent Police received a number of reports of vehicle crime in the districts of Dover, Canterbury, Thanet and Folkestone and Hythe between January 10 and yesterday.
The reports include tools being stolen from vans in the York Street and Leyburne Road areas of Dover overnight between Friday, January 10, and Monday January 13.
A power saw and other tools were stolen from another vehicle in the Castle Road area of Whitstable overnight between Wednesday, January 15, and Thursday, January 16.
A resident living near Lymington Road, Westgate-on-Sea then reported an attempted theft from a van at 2am yesterday before another theft was reported in the same area at 7am the same day.
Kent Police are urging people to be vigilant and for van owners to consider the following measures.
Lock your van in a garage or secure location, fit an alarm, park in well lit areas and ensure you know what is in your vehicle and record any serial numbers and photograph contents.
