A usually peaceful street remains cordoned off after a man in his 60s died having sustained serious injuries.
At least nine police vehicles were in Anstee Road, Dover, this morning as detectives probe the death, which is being treated as suspicious.
Officers were called to a disturbance just before 10.15pm on Monday, where a man was found with injuries in a property, and pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensic officers have been in the area this morning, which neighbours describe as usually quiet.
Roy West, who lives in nearby Erith Street, told KentOnline: “When I walked past yesterday there was a police cordon. I walked past today and there’s everything here – there’s forensic officers.
“I’m not quite sure what’s going on but looks pretty serious.”
When asked if the neighbourhood is normally peaceful, Mr West said: “Yes very. There are retirement flats up there, so I would imagine no one goes up there really.”
Deanne Strain, from nearby Shooters Hill, says the incident is “very worrying.”
She told KentOnline: “As I have four children it is pretty scary. This is usually a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood so you don't expect this sort of thing here. I usually feel safe living here."
An investigation into the death is being carried out by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around that time is urged to contact police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 11-1430.

KentOnline has contacted Kent Police this morning, asking for an update on the investigation.
