An investigation is under way after a teenage girl was attacked by five men in Dover.

The 17-year-old was left with a black eye after being targeted by the group as she walked from Pencester Road to Ladywell.

The men are said to have asked her for a cigarette - but was pushed and punched in the eye when she said she did not have one before the group walked away.

One member of the group has been described as a white man, about 19, 5ft 5in, slim and had hair shaved on one side and the other side was brown and gelled.

The alleged attack happened between 8.40am and 9.10am last Wednesday.

PC Annemarie Benson-Hawkes said: "This was an isolated and unprovoked assault of a teenage girl walking on her own.

"I am appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the incident, or who might have seen a group of men in the Ladywell area between 8.30am and 9.30am on May 7, to contact me as soon as possible."
