Truck stuck between ferry and loading ramp
00:00, 21 February 2002
A CRANE had to be brought in at Dover’s Eastern Docks this afternoon after a 7.5 tonne truck became stuck between a ferry and the loading ramp. The vehicle was being driven on board the SeaFrance freight ship Nord Pas de Calais when a surge of water caused the ship to move about three metres.
The truck was left with one pair of wheels on the ship and the other pair on the loading ramp.
The crane was used to lift the vehicle on board the ship. No-one was injured, and the cause of the accident is being investigated. The ship has now sailed for Calais, about two hours late.
