A warning has been issued after a charging e-cigarette caught alight in Dover.
Four fire engines were called to the bedroom blaze in St Richards Walk in Aycliffe just after 10.15am yesterday.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using hose reel jets, before clearing the home of smoke with a high pressured fan.
One person was passed into care of ambulance crews and treated for minor burns to their hands.
Members of Kent Fire Rescue Services’ volunteer response team were also on-hand to provide support to affected residents.
It’s believed the fire started accidentally when an e-cigarette was left on charge and caught alight, fire crews said.
Following the incident, firefighters are reminding people to take extra care when charging any electronic devices and to unplug them once fully charged.
