How will Brexit affect Dover?

That is the question being raised at a public discussion on Wednesday.

Local people are being invited to discuss what they think life might be like after Britain finally leaves to European Union.

What are the opportunities for young people in Dover and what will a different trading relationship minea, in practical terms, for work, life, transport and local services?

The discussion called Brexit: what are your prospects now is being organised by Tortoise Media, a national economist news service.

This is the company set up by former BBC News director and ex-editor of The Times, James Harding, who will chair the session.

It is from 10.30am to 11.30am this Wednesday at the Nando's restaurant at St James' Retail and Leisure Park, at St James Street, Dover.

Britain at present is expected to leave the European Union on Friday, April 12 at the earliest.

The original date of March 29 had to be cancelled after constant wranglings in Parliament with Prime Minister Theresa May's leaving deal being rejected three times.

MPs are today due to take part in a second round of votes on alternative proposals to her deal.

Mr Harding was editor of The Times newspaper from 2007 to 2012 and BBC director of news and current affairs from 2013 until last year.
