A SUCCESS story is set to continue when building starts on a new £2 million development at Dover's White Cliffs Business Park this autumn. It is hoped the project will provide an extra boost to market confidence in the town.

The initial £3 million development of 14 units at the business park's Whitfield Court has proved exceptionally popular. So far 11 of the units are let with the remaining three under offer.

Phase two will embrace 16,000 sq ft of accommodation and has been pre-let to an owner-occupier relocating from within Dover. A total of 130 people work on the site in the first phase of the scheme covering 40,000 sq ft of floorspace. Excellent access and car parking are its prime assets.

The units are sized from 780 to 3,165 sq ft and are designed to offer flexibility for light manufacturing or office/call centre uses. During the last year Whitfield Court has attracted a number of blue chip companies.

SeaFrance was the first to move into its new UK headquarters on the site from its previous port location. P&O Ferrymasters and Freight Management moved into units totalling 10,780 sq ft last July. Other companies on the site include the NHS Health Promotion Service, the National Farmers Union and children's play facility Kid Safari.

Priory Sites chief executive Paul Barber said: "The success of our development has helped to retain businesses and jobs in Dover, in the face of stiff competition from other locations. Market confidence in the area is improving and White Cliffs Business Park is now firmly established as the area's prime office location."
