A GERMAN woman appeared before a court in Folkestone today on a charge of facilitating the entry into Britain of 26 illegal entrants. Tanja Worner, 27, a single mother from Cologne, failed in an application for bail. She was remanded in custody until next Monday, October 8.
On Saturday, three women and 23 men from
Sri Lanka were discovered by immigration officers who inspected a German hired van which arrived at Dover's eastern docks.
They were found at about 5am on the vehicle which was thought to have travelled from Paris.
The passengers showed signs of physical distress and breathing difficulties and were taken to Kent and Canterbury Hospital for treatment.
