Sarah Hambrook fined £284 for dropping a cigarette in Bartholomew Street, Dover

A Dover woman has picked up a total bill of £284 for dropping a cigarette butt.

Sarah Hambrook, 44, of Beaufoy Road, Dover, has been prosecuted and was found guilty in her absence at Folkestone Magistrates Court.

On 11 October 2020, a woman was reported dropping a cigarette in the area of Bartholomew Street, Dover.

Following an investigation conducted by Dover District Council’s Environmental Protection and Crime Team, Ms Hambrook was identified as the person seen littering.

She was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice, and when this was not paid, DDC took the matter to court.

During the hearing on Monday, April 19, She was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £150 with a victim surcharge of £34.
