Rescue crews were scrambled to Dover last night after a woman fell around 60ft and was trapped for nearly three hours.
Firefighters, ambulance crews and the Coastguard helicopter were called to near Western Heights in the Maxton area after the woman fell and suffered a leg injury.
The casualty, believed to be around 70 years old, lost her footing while walking down a steep, grass bank in countryside off Westbury Crescent.
She is thought to have slipped several feet from the top and was trapped for almost three hours.
Fire crews arrived at the scene at just after 10.30pm, and used safe access equipment and a harness to prevent her falling further.
They then lowered her to safe place 20-30 feet below.
Ambulance crews also helped keep the woman warm and provided her with first aid.
The woman was then taken to hospital by land ambulance.
