Ground works have started for the building of a new Lidl superstore.
The supermarket, at Honeywood Parkway in Whitfield, is expected to open by the end of this year, creating 40 new jobs.
The 18,000 sq ft store will feature Lidl’s new store format with wider aisles, customer toilets and baby changing facilities, and self-service tills.
The company has released new images to show what the Whitfield branch is likely to look like.
The store will stock a range of 2,000 products and include a bakery.
Dover District Council granted the development planning permission last December.
Lidl is making a seven-figure investment in the area and becomes the latest retailer in the 42,200 sq ft Honeywood Retail Park, which opened in 2015.
The area already has businesses such as the B&M general discount store, Pets at Home, Bensons for Beds, and KFC.
This is the second time Dover has hosted a Lidl as a branch was previously placed at the former MFI store in the town's Maison Dieu Road.
