Liam Bellamy is open and honest about what he wants – to play regular football for Dover.

That hasn’t been the case for the Londoner so far this season.

Bellamy, who joined Whites from Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United in the summer of 2013, has started only three Vanarama Conference games.

And two of those were in the first two games of the campaign – against Halifax and Braintree – back in August.

He made a rare start in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Forest Green Rovers at Crabble but not in his normal midfield position.

Suspensions saw Bellamy, 23, slot in at right-wing back and he did it impressively. And playing out of position didn’t worry him.

He said: “All I want to do is play football. I would be happy in any position at the moment.

“I was just so happy to get a game and determined to make the most of it. We’ve got such a strong squad now and I know that means competition for places is always going to be tough.

“I’ve just got to keep the faith and do the best I can whenever I get an opportunity.”

But did he enjoy his 90 minutes in the impressive defensive line?

He said: “It was the first time I had played in that sort of role for a few years and I enjoyed it.

“I had played at right back a couple of times when I was with Charlton Athletic as a youngster but this was a different challenge.

“I felt it went well and I can see myself playing in the role if the gaffer (manager Chris Kinnear) wants me to.”
