It looks likely that Dover will be playing Conference South football again next season after they could only draw 1-1 with relegation-threatened Whitehawk at Crabble on Easter Monday.
In what was a “must win” fixture for Chris Kinnear’s side, they were again let down by their inconsistent form at Crabble.
Whites fell behind after just three minutes to a Jake Robinson strike and could only manage a Callum Davies goal in reply seven minutes from time.
The one glimmer of consolation for Dover was that fellow play-off chasers Ebbsfleet United suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at Maidenhead United.
But it still means that Whites, who travel to Hayes & Yeading Utd on Saturday for their final league match of the season, can only finish with a maximum of 69 points while rivals Ebbsfleet and Havant & Waterlooville already have 68 points and both have two matches left to play.
