Canterbury & St Augustine's were literally the class of the field at Saturday's Kent Schools Cross-Country Championships.

Wins for Matthew Stonier and Alexandra Millard gave the district a win double in the senior categories at the Duke of York's Royal Military School in Dover – a feat unmatched with the rest of the districts unable to claim a one-two.

Stonier (22min10sec) beat Tonbridge duo James Kingston (22.28) and Alex Beeston (22.47) to victory in the senior boys' event, although Tonbridge won the four-to-score team prize.

Tonbridge were best of the rest in the senior girls' race, Kate Goodge (14.03) leading the chase but Millard was too good; breaking the 14-minute mark in 13.44. Ashford & Weald's Imogen Amos (14.46) completed the top three with Tonbridge again winning the four-to-score team honours.

Tunbridge Wells district joined the winners' circle courtesy of Matthew Taylor (18.37) in the intermediate boys' battle. He was almost 20 seconds clear of Canterbury & St Augustine's Jack Small (18.55), with Henry Taylor (19.05) third for Tunbridge Wells who also won the six-to-score event.

Medway & Maidstone's Anna Palmer (14.28) claimed victory for the Maidstone district in the intermediate girls' category. Bromley were second and third via Hannah Clark (14.43) and Isabelle Stoneham (14.45), but top-10 finishes for Annabel Young (sixth, 15.16), Billie Rouse (ninth, 15.29) and Emma Ryan (10th, 15.29) secured Maidstone the six-to-score win.

Thanet's Jake Stevens hit his stride for junior boys success. His 12.51 was too fast for Hayden Gear (Swale, 13.03) and George Hopkins (Tonbridge, 13.12), but Thanet were forced to settle for best of the rest in the six-to-score category behind Tonbridge.

Lily Slack claimed the junior girls' crown for the Sevenoaks district. Her 11.02 was eight seconds faster than Sophie Slack (Tunbridge Wells) with Natalia Austin (Thanet) completing the top three in 11.29. Tunbridge Wells, however, had enough strength in depth to take their second team win.

The Year 7 honours went to Tunbridge Wells and Dartford & Gravesham. Finlay Goodman (10.23) defeated Ollie Scott (10.37, Canterbury & St Augustine's) and Oliver Head (10.57, Tonbridge) to give Tunbridge Wells another title while Amber Matthews (9.41) led Bromley's Megan Barlow (9.45) and Maidstone's Iris Crossley (9.45).

The Year 6 invitational events were won by Roseacre's Rose Crossley (9.59) and Goudhurst & Kilndown's Luke Draper (10.46).
