Dover Athletic are to host a trial game for players who have been released from clubs in the Football League.
Whites are going part-time next season in the National League and are on the hunt for new additions as boss Andy Hessenthaler looks to rebuild for the 2021/22 season.
Hessenthaler has encouraged hopefuls to come and show what they’ve got for a potential move to Crabble.
Commenting on the club’s website, the manager said: “It’s never easy letting players go but unfortunately that’s part of the job and part of making decisions for the club you are employed as a manager.
“Football is a tough, tough business and it can be very cruel at times – that’s why I want to see if we can give anyone a second chance now.
“A lot of players call Kent home, so this is an ideal time for them, or anyone else keen to make the move to the south-east, to come along and show me what they’ve got and what they are about before the summer break.
“I can’t make any promises, but they will all get the chance to impress, and who knows, if they have the desire, hunger and ability to bounce back from getting released, well, this could be a perfect opportunity for them.”
The match will take place next month and will be by invite only.
Those interested are asked to send their playing CV to the club’s newly appointed sponsor relations manager Richard Harvey by emailing richard.harvey@doverathletic.com
Dover, meanwhile, have announced six pre-season games, starting with a home match against Ashford United on Saturday, July 17. They travel to Deal Town on Tuesday, July 20, host Folkestone Invicta on Saturday, July 24, head to Whitstable Town on Tuesday, August 3 and Tonbridge Angels on Saturday, August 7.
