Manager Mitch Brundle concedes Dover right-back Myles Judd will be a big miss.

Judd will begin a two-match suspension when Whites host Eastbourne in National League South this Saturday after reaching 10 yellow cards.

Brundle admits the 23-year-old’s absence will be felt, especially with defenders Tyrone Sterling and Will Moses also injury doubts, but he hopes to see squad players take their first-team chance.

“Juddy has been fantastic,” said Brundle. “He plays the game on the front foot and he’s aggressive.

"We will miss him but, obviously, that’s what the squad is for.

“We will see how the week goes in training. I have ideas already.”

Things could have been even worse with centre-back Jake Goodman sent off in a 3-0 loss at home to Worthing last Tuesday. But that ban has since been overturned.

Dover will aim to stop Eastbourne doing the double over them. They lost 3-1 at Priory Lane in early September.

Neither Sterling or Moses have definitely been ruled out but Brundle is open to calling on someone yet to play since he took charge - himself!

“I’m training all the time - that’s a thought if it comes down to it,” the 28-year-old said. “But I believe in the group.

“If I don’t trust them, then there’s no real point bringing them in. I’ve told them that I believe in them and it’s up to them.

“We will look at what the best solution is.”

Brundle felt 15th-placed Dover did enough to win at Slough in their 1-1 draw last Saturday, responding after their defeat at home to Worthing.

He said: “Before the game, after the disappointing result against Worthing, we might have taken a point.

"But considering how the game panned out, I think we deserved to win.

“We gave ourselves a right chance to win the game, we’re just lacking that goal threat at the minute but it takes time.

“We were good all-round at Slough. We cannot say we have cracked it because we conceded three goals against Worthing, but we just weren’t clinical enough against Slough.”

The match saw David Boateng score his first Whites goal and Brundle hopes there’s more to come from the Crystal Palace loanee.

“We were delighted for him,” he said.

“Hopefully, he can kick on. He had a good amount of chances.”

Top scorer Alfie Pavey has left the club and has signed for league rivals Braintree. That’s freed up funds for Whites to look to bolster their squad.

“We’re actively looking, it’s just about getting the right ones in,” the boss said.

“We need to find someone who fits into the way we work.

“We’ve identified a few. It’s just about whether we can get it over the line. We will try.”

Young striker George Nikaj has returned from his latest loan spell at Ashford. He had scored three goals in their last two games for the Isthmian South East outfit.

Brundle said: “It’s [the chance to play at] a higher level which is what he needs. He has done really well at that level.

“There was a chance to extend it but we haven’t. He deserves a chance as he has been scoring.

“He will be playing a part in our team - it’s up to him to see whether he can do it at this level.”
