And there I was thinking I was the only captain at Dover.

It seems I have a rival and a pretty snappy one, pardon the pun, at that by the way he was dressed at Crabble on Monday.

The club’s new mascot, Captain Crab, made his first appearance of the season at the Boreham Wood game and I can tell you that the lads wanted to have a bit of fun with him after we all got introduced before the game.

I say him because we have no idea who is inside the costume – it could be a female crab for all we know.

It’s a bit like the Stig – it’s a secret.

I must admit that I had a quick take at our injured list and ruled out Raffers, Murphy, Ricky and Junior – they wouldn’t fit inside it!

Millers would be a perfect fit but he was warming up, so that ruled him out – so it remained a mystery.

But that didn’t stop the plotting to give Captain Crab an initiation but we were all warned there was to be no funny business, so we will do the right thing.

Captain Crab didn’t provide the only talking point among the lads on Monday.

I scored my second goal for the club in the win but Devs is having none of it.

Devs sent over an unbelievable delivery which I got slight touch on before it made its way into the far corner, although Devs swears I didn’t.

I was slightly embarrassed, not about Devs’s claims but the fact that I had tried to head the ball into the other corner but completely fluffed my lines.

As I started to celebrate, I saw half the lads going to Devs, which was funny as I was instantly branded a goal thief.

I’m just happy we got the three points, although I will admit I’m trying to get Orlu and Raggs to have a wager on the most goals scored by a defender this season.

So if MY goal is given to Devs, I may be struggling as I need all the goals I can get.
