Chris Kinnear jnr will be getting no favours from his manager and father Chris after signing a new one-year deal with Conference Premier Dover.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who impressed at the heart of the Whites midfield during his first season at Crabble, did not take long to agree extending his stay.

“Negotiations? What negotiations?” Kinnear jnr said. “There was no haggling – dad just said ‘there you go’ and that was that. I’m happy with that.

“The prospect of playing at great grounds and in front of the big crowds at clubs such as Bristol Rovers is really something I’m looking forward to. I don’t think I am alone in thinking like that either."

Kinnear jnr is not worried by playing under his father, and revealed football is not the topic of discussion around the dinner table.

He said: “Last season was really the first time I had done it, apart from a Kent Senior Cup game while we were both at Margate.

“It’s all good, though. Football is a working relationship – he’s the boss there. He returns to being my dad when we are home – we don’t talk about football.”
