Manny Parry thinks Dover can use their win in the FA Trophy as a platform to regain their form in the league.
The Whites won 4-3 against Marine on Saturday following a poor run in the National League where they have not won in their last five matches.
It was a tough test against the Northern Premier side but Parry said that it was all about the outcome.
He said: “The main thing today was getting through. We hadn’t had a win in a while and getting that win today we have to use that and give us the confidence to help us in the league.
“I think when it’s a cup competition and they are playing a team two leagues above they are up for it and it’s always going to be tough. You see it in the FA Cup all the time lower league teams knocking out bigger teams.
“As a defensive unit we have defended really well this season but lately it has been a bit sloppy from our side so if we can get back to what we were like at the beginning of the season I’m sure we will slowly climb back up the league.”
Parry scored in the FA Trophy win against to take his tally to four for the season and was also on the receiving end of a nasty challenge that saw William Short sent off for Marine.
He said: “From what I remember the ball just ran away from their midfielder but he’s just tried to lunge in and get the ball. I don’t think it’s too malicious but when you lunge in like that you expect a red.
“I was buzzing to get on the scoresheet. Two goals in two games is getting me closer to my target and hopefully a couple more to come this season.”
Next up for Dover is a trip to sixth place Boreham Wood and the Whites have a chance to leapfrog them if they win.
Parry added: “It is going to be a tough game and they are doing well. They are one place above us but we have to back ourselves to go there and get a result.”
