Josh Passley says reaching the National League play-offs should be the minimum requirement for Dover's players this season.

The 23-year-old full-back was a member of the Whites squad which just missed out on goal difference last season.

Boss Chris Kinnear has again been forced to make wholesale changes during the summer but Passley believes they remain top seven contenders.

He said: "We've got five or six new players but the standard is always to be up in the play-offs, or in and around it.

"We've got to aim for at least the play-offs but if we can get our strikers scoring goals and we defend well you never know."

Passley admitted he was disappointed with Saturday's 1-0 opening day home defeat to Wrexham, but said there were pluses.

He added: "It was frustrating, we should have scored the penalty (Inih Effiong's first-half spot kick was saved by Wrexham keeper Rob Lainton), the thing is once that goes on we can kick on from there.

"It would have been a big boost to us but we came out, we tried, but it was not enough.

"They defended as a tight back four and it was difficult to get in through the gaps but we learn and we go again. It wasn't a great performance but we've got positives we can take from it."

Whites travel to Bromley on Tuesday and Passley is hoping for a swift response

He said: "Its always a battle when you play on an artificial pitch but we we have to go there and try and get a win ."

Whites will again be without attacking duo Anthony Jeffrey (hamstring) and Tobi Sho-Silva (ankle).
