Chris Kinnear says Dover need to cut out the silly mistakes if they want to start turning things around.

Whites were beaten 2-1 at home to Eastleigh on Saturday and have now lost four of their opening six matches in the National League this season.

Kinnear’s side have also conceded the most goals in the league with 14.

He said: “It was a game of two halves. First half we were not good at all and second half we were a lot better.

“With our inexperience we are letting in silly goals. There’s no doubt about it we have to stop other teams scoring.

“I said you were letting yourselves down at half-time. We are all letting ourselves down, it’s not just the players, we have to get on with it. We have to make sure we start putting things right.

“Two years ago we were the second highest scorers in the league and last year we had the second best defence.

“Every year we are losing our best five players, we still have good players, it’s hard to keep doing that but it doesn’t mean we aren’t trying to.”

Ben Williamson gave Eastleigh the lead after 19 minutes when he finished off a good passing move from the visitors. Cavaghn Miley got to the byline and pulled back his cross to Williamson who slotted home.

Eastleigh doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Josh Hare crossed for Paul McCallum who rose above Tim Schmoll to head in.

Mitch Brundle scored a superb volley to halve the deficit for Dover in the 64th minute. The captain flicked it up with his knee and hit it first time into the top corner.

Whites were the better of the two teams in the second half but could not convert their chances.

Kinnear said: “They want to improve as players. As a team we have to stop making mistakes like we are doing.

“We might as well get on and play the best we can. With some of the lads being young it is causing us some problems with the experience.

“We have to get out and learn quickly. We can’t go out and pay the money of the likes of Salford. We have to do the best we can with what we’ve got.”

New signing Aryan Tajbakhsh went straight into the starting 11 after an injury to Bedsente Gomis.

Kinnear added: “He’s been injured a bit but I thought he went out there and did well. He played the second half of the season at Crawley last year.

“Gomis has broken his toe and will be out for six weeks.

“We are trying to recruit still. It’s hard to get people to move from up north to down south.

“People are prepare to do that if you throw pounds at them. There are a couple of us that can’t do that.”
