Chris Kinnear was disappointed with the silly mistakes that cost Dover in their match with Barnet.

Whites lost 2-1 at home on Saturday to make it four defeats in a row in the National League.

Errors saw his side concede twice in the first half against Barnet.

Kinnear then kept the players in the dressing room for an extended period following the match.

He said: “It was disappointing. I don’t think they were that much better than us. We have shot ourselves in the foot too many times.

“We have to cut the mistakes out and that’s what we’ve got to work on. There was no ranting and raving (in the dressing room), it’s about making sure individuals don’t do that and all working together.

“Everybody goes through a run like this at some stage. The spirit is good and the supporters are still behind the players.

“There was no one sulking and feeling sorry for themselves. I can’t say there’s anyone not one giving 100%.”

Byron Harrison scored twice in the first half to pounce on Dover mistakes.

Mitch Brundle scored his third of the season to give his side a glimmer of hope in the second half but it was not enough to get them back on level terms.

The defeat means Whites have taken just four points from their opening eight matches.

Kinnear said: “This happens in football sometimes. You go on that run and they whistle one in.

“It does change around and I’ve been in this for long enough to know we aren’t far away. They were not a lot better than us.

“In the end we had them wobbling at 2-1. It is just the matter of working hard.

“We could have scored and ended up 2-2 and gone on from there. That’s the way football is.”

Moussa Diarra came on just before half-time to replace Kevin Lokko, who was struggling with a groin injury, and performed well.

New signings George Smith, on loan from Chesterfield, and Ntumba Massanka, on loan from Burnley, went straight into the starting line-up.

Kinnear added: “He was not fit when he came in pre-season. Today he did well. He’s taken a little while to get fit.

“They did alright (Smith and Massanka). It is hard coming in to a side. They played with a bit of enthusiasm.

“It’s not about individual players but it is about those individual mistakes that different people seem to be making at different times.”
