Dover Athletic 2 Macclesfield Town 0 match report
16:54, 17 March 2018
Dover made it three wins in a row as they beat National League leaders Macclesfield Town 2-0 at home on Saturday.
Debutant Keanu Marsh-Brown scored twice days after joining the club on loan from Forest Green Rovers.
He made the difference as Chris Kinnear’s side cemented their place in the play-off positions.
The winger went straight into the starting line-up with Ryan Bird dropping down to the bench and Adebayo Azeez playing through the middle.
Marsh-Brown made an instant impact on two minutes into his debut for the club. He picked the ball up from 25 yards and lashed it into the bottom corner after being given far too much space.
Adebayo Azeez was causing problems for the Macclesfield defence early on when he found space on the edge of the box but screwed his shot wide after 11 minutes. Less than 60 seconds later he raced through on goal but was beaten to the ball by goalkeeper Shwan Jalal.
Macclesfield had a chance to get back on level terms after 16 minutes when Scott Wilson raced through on goal. Connor Essam blocked his shot with a last minute sliding challenge to stop a good opportunity.
The Dover debutant doubled his tally after 36 minutes. Femi Ilesanmi sent Marsh-Brown through on goal, he rounded Jalal and passed into an open goal to make it 2-0.
Dover had a let off early in the second half when Danny Whitehead missed the target from 10 yards. Durrell did well to find Blissett and with Mitch Walker diving at his feet he found Whitehead who fired wide.
Marsh-Brown nearly had his hat-trick after 57 minutes but Macclesfield’s goalkeeper saved his curling effort as it was heading into the top corner.
Mitch Hancox forced a save from Mitch Walker in the Dover goal after 72 minutes. He found space on the edge of the box and Walker parried it wide after taking a deflection on the way through.
Macclesfield had a golden chance to get back in the game six minutes from time. The cross from Tyrone Marsh went straight across the face of goal missing everybody.
