LEE SPILLER was very much the centre of attention as Dover laboured their way through to the third round of the FA Trophy.
Apart from scoring Whites’ opening goal and being voted ‘man of the match’, Spller was involved in the two incidents which led to Ford United having to play most of the second half with nine men.
Referee Alan Legg showed straight red cards to Alex Fiddes and Dave Collis for serious foul play against the energetic midfielder, who said afterwards: “I was getting in amongst it and I really enjoyed it.”
Spiller’s first goal for Dover at Crabble came after just three minutes when he charged through unmarked to head home Matt Carruthers’ far post cross.
Dover wrapped up the tie shortly before the end through Simon Glover who had earlier missed some good opportunities.
Dover Athletic: Hyde; Readings, Arnott, Chapman; Browne, Day, Dyer, Spiller, Carruthers; Dent (Tyne 67mins), Glover.
