Dover Sharks 37 Thanet Wanderers 15
After a run of disappointing results in London 2 South, Dover scored six tries when they hosted Thanet in a league fixture for the first time in 25 years.
Thanet took the lead when their midfield intercepted a pass, leading to a score in the bottom right-hand corner.
Dover’s first score came in the 33rd minute when they won their scrum on Thanet’s 22 and the ball was fed for Ben Sedgwick to score.
Thanet countered and kicked a penalty late in the half, but direct from the restart Dover were awarded a penalty that Martyn Beaumont slotted to restore parity again.
Then, on 51 minutes, Dover opted for a scrum from a free-kick and the ball was fed to Ben Murray. He passed to Lee Tonks who found the gap to score.
For the third try Kirk Savage provided the pass for Sedgwick to score his second and the extras followed.
Dover stretched their lead shortly afterwards when Beaumont touched down and scored the conversion.
Sedgwick then grabbed his third try on 70 minutes when he touched down on his opposite wing, with the conversion increasing the lead.
Thanet reduced the arrears with another try and the additional points from the conversion, but Dover had the last word through Beaumont after pressure was applied in the midfield.
