THE long wait goes on for Dover Athletic supporters as far as a possible resolution of their club's financial crisis is concerned. Club officials are still in talks with potential investors who are considering putting some desperately-needed cash into the Crabble coffers.
General manager Bill Williams, speaking on behalf of the four-man management committee currently running the club, said: “The discussions are still taking place and we have a couple of meetings with the potential investors, who have now returned from a trip abroad. The negotiations are at such a delicate stage that I think the least said at the moment the better. We don’t want anything to rock the boat.”
On the pitch, Dover’s players did their bit for the cause with last Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Chester, which lifted Whites out of the Conference bottom three for the first time since the end of September. Caretaker-manager Clive Walker said: “It was a dogged, physical sort of match but we stuck at it and could have got a couple more goals by the finish.”
