Whites aim to pose problems for table toppers
00:00, 11 October 2001
DOVER ATHLETIC face a daunting task when they take on Conference leaders Dagenham at Crabble tonight (Monday), but they will fancy their chances after Saturday's 2-1 home win over Northwich.
The win moved Whites off the bottom of the table thanks to new boy Chris Allen's superbly-taken second half goal. The former Nottingham Forest player, making his home debut for Athletic, swept the ball home from 15 yards out after 75 minutes for what proved to be the winning goal.
Dover, showing four changes from the side beaten 4-0 at Woking in midweek, led at half-time through Keith Scott's 39th-minute close range effort, and when Allen struck they looked set for a comfortable three points.
But then Greg Blundell pulled one back in the 90th minute, and the home side had to endure an anxious few minutes before celebrating a precious three points.
Tonight's game kicks off at 7.45pm
