Dover produced a performance to remember at Crabble on Tuesday night as Chris Kinnear’s side recorded their second home win in the space of four days.
Three quality goals from Tyrone Sterling, Christian Nanetti and Ricky Miller destroyed an Aldershot team who had come within two minutes of winning at high-flying Gateshead at the weekend.
It was one of those matches where several Dover players had strong claims on the man-of-the-match rating including midfielder Solomon Taiwo and striker Ricky Miller, whose loan deals from Luton Town Kinnear has managed to extend for another month.
Miller in particular caused the Shots’ defence all sorts of problems with his pace and trickery and received due reward when he turned in Craig Stone’s low cross for Dover’s third goal after 68 minutes following a neat piece of skill from Christian Nanetti.
Winger Nanetti had struck Whites’ second goal eight minutes after the restart, collecting Stefan Payne’s long crossfield ball and turning inside onto his left foot before curling a shot into the far corner past former Dover keeper Phil Smith.
And Nanetti and Payne were also involved in Whites’ opening goal on 21 minutes, with Payne’s precise pass giving Nanetti the chance to send in a cross which Sterling thumped home with his head.
Substitute Tom Murphy also rattled the crossbar soon after Miller’s goal and although the Shots missed a couple of good chances in the closing minutes through Brett Williams and Dan Fitchett, Whites’ were already home and dry.
Dover: Rafferty, Stone, Orlu, Lock, Payne (Murphy 54mins), Sterling, Nanetti (Deverdics 85mins), Bonner, Miller, Taiwo (Raggett 86mins), Essam. Attendance: 797
