Dover have beaten arch-Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United twice in the league already this season.

Boss Chris Kinnear has been around too long to know that impressive statistic – a 2-1 win at Crabble and a 2-0 victory at Ebbsfleet – will count for nothing in Saturday’s Skrill South promotion final at Stonebridge Road.

Whites reached the showdown after a 4-1 aggregate win against Sutton, which included a stunning 3-0 win in the second leg at Sutton last Saturday.

Kinnear said that memorable victory was in the past now and his squad were now fully focused on the job ahead of them – beating Ebbsfleet.

He said: “What has happened already this season has happened. It’s all about the final now. Winning this one is all that matters.”

Dover have the best away record in the league but only qualified for the play-offs in fifth place, a result of some indifferent home form.

But Kinnear said it wasn’t luck that got Whites into their second consecutive play-off final.

He said: “We didn’t get the results we wanted at home and I copped some stick over it but I can handle it. It’s what happens at the end of the season that counts and look at us now – we are in the final.

“This side has plenty of character, determination and courage to keep battling, regardless of what’s happening around it."
