Acting skipper Michael Woods says Dover fear no-one in the National League but they do need to improve their poor home form.

Tuesday's 2-1 win at Maidenhead was Dover's sixth in seven on the road, but Andy Hessenthaler's fifth-placed side have won just once in six home league outings.

Whites host FC Halifax in a televised game kicking-off at 5.20pm on Saturday and midfielder Woods admits there would be no better time to put on a show for the Crabble faithful.

The 29-year-old, who has been wearing the skipper's armband in the absence of the injured Kevin Lokko, said: "I think bar a couple (of home games), probably Torquay (Whites lost 2-1), and the last game Chorley (1-1) the performance levels weren't great.

"I think Woking was a good performance, obviously we had the man sent off (Kurtis Cumberbatch) early on, but there's still a belief.

"The boys are full of confidence, I think every one looks at minute details, it is really fine lines.

"I think we've been a bit unlucky with a few, we saw the goal back at Chorley. Is he half a yard offside?

"If that decision goes the other way then things are starting to look different already.

"We're not panicking, it's still early on. We've obviously got that confidence away from home and now we want to try to give the fans something to cheer about at home."

Former Harrogate man Woods, who joined Dover on a two-year deal in May, believes the league is wide open this season.

He added: "It's there for anyone. There's a belief here, I've said it from the start of the season, I think the gaffer's put a really good squad together, there's a great spirit there, a huge belief.

"We certainly don't go into any game fearing anyone.

"Some days you've got to roll your sleeves up, you've got to stick your head in where it hurts and just be hard to beat.

"I think we've got that about us so far especially away from home with six wins out of seven on the road.

"I think that says a lot about the character of the boys.

"We've not achieved anything yet, we're not getting carried away but the lads are full of confidence.
