On the final days of term, Sandwich Technology School’s Year 12 students enjoyed a fantastic 2-day careers conference!
They were able to find out more about all the post 18 options available to them including a very informative presentation from St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford.
Lecturers from the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Greenwich visited the school to deliver taster sessions on a plethora of different subjects, plus workshops focusing on health and mental wellbeing, interview skills, interdisciplinary learning and entrepreneurship.
Pfizer spoke about their different apprenticeships, a great way to hear from a local employer. The day was drawn to a close with one-to-one mock interviews conducted by visiting employers! The feedback from employers was fantastic with many commenting on how engaged and interested our students are in their futures.
Mrs Rooke STS’s Careers Adviser and this event organiser was thrilled that the students enjoyed and gained so much from the day.
“Each year this event gets better and better. The students are always so engaged and proactive in researching and finding out more about their future options. They really do listen to all the sessions which gives them all the information they need to make informed and positive decisions about their next steps.”
The skills and knowledge shared by the professionals at these events will help students to pursue their aspirations feeling well prepared and confident. STS look forward to hosting more events this academic year.
If you’re interested in joining STS Sixth Form come along to their enrolment event on GSCE results day, Thursday 24 August, there will be friendly staff on hand to run through all the options available to you and enrol you on the day!
