Air ambulance called to St Mary of Charity Primary School in Faversham following medical incident

An air ambulance has been called to a primary school following a medical incident involving a child.

The helicopter was joined by police at St Mary of Charity Primary School in Orchard Place, Faversham, this afternoon.

The school has confirmed that parents of the pupil involved in the incident are aware, and are with their child.

In a short statement to parents, head teacher Louise Rowley-Jones said: "There has been an incident at the school this afternoon involving one of our children which the emergency services have responded to.

"Parents are with the child concerned and the response from our staff and the emergency services has been outstanding.

"I will be sending a letter to all parents later on today."

The incident is believed to have taken place in the school's playground, but this has not been confirmed.

Police confirmed they were called to the scene at about 12.30pm to assist the ambulance service at the scene of a medical incident.

They added that no crimes have been reported.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an air ambulance along with police officers in forensics suits at the scene.

The playground was also reportedly cordoned off with police tape.

The ambulance service has been approached for more information.
