Police seize Aston Martin after aggressive driving on the M2 near Faversham

Police have seized an Aston Martin after the driver tailgated an unmarked patrol car.
Officers spotted the aggressive driving on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 near Faversham and brought the high-powered DB11 sports car to a halt after activating blue lights.
They found the man behind the wheel had previously been warned about his driving a few months earlier and issued with a road traffic section 59 warning.
It meant his luxury vehicle could be confiscated in the future if his manner of driving was a concern.
A police spokesman said officers from Kent Police’s Road Safety Unit had joined the motorway, at around 6.20pm on Monday, August 7 when they saw the car approach them from behind.
The vehicle was seen driving up to them at speed and tailgating officers, before moving on and undertaking several other cars on the carriageway.
Officers concerned about his safety and other road users stopped the driver.
Checks revealed the motorist had already been given nine points on his driving licence and an official warning for careless driving back in February.
This meant that on this second occasion officers had the power to seize his car. He was also reported for careless driving and will now face court where he risks being disqualified.
PC Stephen Wade, from the Road Safety Unit, said: ‘We won’t tolerate drivers who put lives at risk and will continue to take robust action against those who break the law.
“It is clear that this driver has not learnt from his previous warning and will now have to deal with the consequences of his actions.”
The Aston Martin DB11 costs up to £166,000 new and can reach more than 190mph.
