A distressed baby seagull was saved by the RSPCA and fire crews last night.
The frustrated bird was spotted by a neighbour in Newton Road trapped under wire netting.
It couldn't be seen at all times but was spotted yesterday (Tuesday) throwing itself against the netting in a bid for freedom.
The neighbour, who didn't want to be named, said that another seagull, possibly its mother, had been squawking and crying loudly above where the bird was trapped.
The RSPCA and fire crews rushed to the scene last night and freed the bird.
The building is a former privately owned care-home but is currently derelict.
It is believed the netting was placed on the roof recently to stop seagulls from nesting there.
