Blaze wrecks boatyard sheds
00:00, 15 May 2003
THREE boatyard sheds were destroyed during a fire at the Iron Wharf at Faversham on Sunday evening.
Six pumps, including both crews from Faversham, were mobilised. The sheds contained oxyacetylene gas cylinders, which exploded during the blaze. A motorcycle and two boats were also totally wrecked.
A patrol from Swale police was sent to provide a cordon because of the danger to the public from the cylinders. A fire brigade team is investigating the cause.
