Two women have been freed from their cars after a pile-up on the A2 in Faversham this morning.

Three fire engines, police and paramedics are all at the scene where fire crews have used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof from two cars.

It is causing delays in London Road in both directions near the Western Link leading out towards Teynham and Sittingbourne.

Reports say traffic is backed up towards Brenley Corner.

Jayne Rooney said: "Just been through this accident. Absolutely crazy and the back roads are all gridlocked.

"Took me over an hour to get from Faversham to Sittingbourne."

Kent Highways are warning drivers to expect delays into the afternoon and to use an alternative route.

This morning's incident follows a major lorry crash near the same area yesterday afternoon, when a man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Drivers are being urged to take a diversion route via the Western Link and Bysing Wood Road or Lower Norton Lane and Lower Road.
