A driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving after a car flipped onto its roof on a busy road, leaving four people injured.
Police officers in Swale shared a picture on Twitter of the overturned vehicle on the A2 London Road between the village of Norton and Faversham yesterday evening.
They said diversions were in place and warned motorists to expect delays.
The tweet adds: "Driver has failed a roadside breath test, drink/driving never ends well."
The picture shared by the @KentPoliceSwale account shows the car left in a crumpled mess on the road, surrounded by mud and debris.
A Kent Police spokesman said officers were called to the scene in Teynham at 7.20pm along with paramedics and no other vehicles were involved.
They added: "Four people were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.
"He has been taken into police custody."
The crash comes amid growing concerns over the number of accidents along the A2 London Road in Teynham.
The stretch of road has witnessed the death of 10 people over the last 23 years according to Crash Map UK, a website which locates road accidents from published Department for Transport data.
There have also been 15 serious accidents along the route.
Calls from residents for further traffic calming measures have been backed by Conservative councillor Mike Whiting, who represents Teynham and Lynsted,.
He told KentOnline: "Teynham seems to be the only settlement along the A2 London Road from Medway to Faversham that doesn't have a speed camera.
"I have asked that the stretch of road just before you get into Teynham coming from Faversham is reduced from 60mph to 40mph."
