A driver who offered a give a man a lift had his car hijacked just minutes into the journey.
The victim, a man in his 60s, agreed to drive the suspect from Faversham to Ashford in his blue Volkswagen Polo.
But while travelling on the A251 towards Ashford, the suspect is said to have assaulted the victim.
He stopped the car in the middle of the road, just before the M2 slip-road for junction 6, and was threatened by the suspect.
The driver got out of the car, and the passenger then drove it away.
The vehicle was found by police in the Lydd area later that day.
Officers have now released an appeal for dashcam footage of the incident, which happened between 4pm and 5pm on Wednesday, August 25.
They believe motorists in the area at the time may have seen what happened or filmed the blue car being driven in the area.
A 52-year-old man from Romney Marsh has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on bail until Friday, September 17.
