David Lench, the Faversham based managing director of Ward and Partners raises charity cash

A managing director who swapped the boardroom for a bike has raised close to £75,000 for charity.

Ward and Partners estate agents boss David Lench is back in his office in Faversham after completing a 1,000-mile charity bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

The money will go to Action Medical Research which pays for research into children’s diseases and disabilities and CHYPS which provides support for chronically-ill children across north and west Kent.

His partner for the ride was friend Kevin Hafner from Stelling Minnis while the support vehicle was driven by Mr Lench’s wife Vivien.

Their route took them across the Severn Bridge into the Welsh border country and then up through Lancashire, skirting the Lake District before crossing into Scotland.

Mr Lench, who lives in Littlebourne, said the climbs of 5,000 to 6,000 ft in a day posed the biggest challenge.
