Three fire engines are tackling a blaze at a wooded area just off the M2.
Crews faced a "well developed" fire when they arrived around 11.40am today near to the motorway between Faversham and Sittingbourne, and are still tackling the blaze now.
Around 50 tonnes of tree scrubland is well alight, about 30 metres from the coastbound carriageway.
Firefighters are using hose reel jets to contain the fire to stop it spreading to nearby trees.
The engines are parked up on the hard shoulder of the M2.
Motorists are being warned to be aware of smoke blowing across the motorway and to avoid this stretch of the M2 if possible.
Police are on the scene.
